Brother Brewer: Prepared for the upcoming short legislative session with special attention to cancer presumption and the possibilities for this budget year. Spoke to members regarding a few upcoming issues that will be upcoming.
Brother Smith: Attended FDIC and continued the discussion of quite a few items of concern and interest to the CFD. Attended and facilitated the annual Union Dinner with Local 660 members. Discussed current cancer research with Firefighter Cancer Support Network and other cancer organizations to formulate a plan to integrate some measures into the CFD. Spoke to Chief Gordon concerning cancer prevention and will report back following the conference. Spoke to Scott officials regarding some concerns with airpacks and repairs as brought forth by members of CFD. Brother Feneis also attended and approached some of the same issues.
Spoke with the Tinsley family and Emily Lineberger concerning the LODD desigantion by the IAFF.
Emailed Chief Hannan on Thursday 4/21 to follow up on phone calls from the prior week to attempt to maintain an open line of communication concerning cancer deaths and a few other issues with no response.
Brother Feneis: Attended FDIC with Brother Smith, and attended many sessions concerning social media, firefighter free speech, and other concerns that we address daily with our members. Attended the annual Union FDIC dinner. Spoke to many about cancer prevention and ways we can implement them into the CFD. Contacted the IAFF and am eagerly awaiting results of actuarial study of retiree health care costs for CFD. Established a committee to assist with all of this effort.
4/25:Spoke with IAFF regarding Retiree Healthcare. Delivered shorts, cost is $20. Continued to set up hotline. Contacted FOP regarding Retiree Healthcare.
4/26: Began gathering information for International Firefigher Cancer Foundation for studies to support LODD for Brother McGill. Received IAFF study and scheduled to go over numbers with them on 4/27 to verify the report is correct and then we will release it.
4/29:Met with FOP to discuss Retiree Healthcare. The FOP is also creating a Healthcare committe. Future meeting will be in the coming weeks.
