CHARLOTTE FIRE FIGHTERS' ASSOCIATION IN THE COMMUNITY
During the past Christmas season Local 660 has made every effort to give back to the community. The following are just a few where your Union has helped out:
Local 660 helps the Charlotte Fire Department reach its United Way donation goal with a contribution of $2,000 designated for the Charlotte Firefighters' Burned Children Fund. Charlotte fire fighters and employees made this year's United Way campaign a success by exceeding the Fire Department goal of $105,000! The next highest KBU United Way donation was by CMPD at less than $54,000. We think this is a testiment to the nature of fire fighters and their willingness to give back.
Local 660 with Fire Station #16 made a delivery of much needed children's bikes to support the Kids First of the Carolinas. Kids First of the Carolinas is a very small, grassroots charity that hosts an annual Christmas party for homeless and underprivileged children that help over 600 kids receive presents. The charity consists of two moms and a great group of volunteers. Thanks to Local 660 members and Station 16 for your help with this great cause.
Local 660's Facebook "friend drive" raised $2010 for Coats for Kids this December. For every new Facebook friend before Christmas, Local 660 gave $5 to the Coats for Kids charity.
At Thanksgiving over 650 Charlotte homeless citizens were provided a turkey dinner from the Charlotte Rescue Mission led by Mayor Pro Tem Patrick Cannon. Local 660 donated $2,000 to fund the holiday meal so that those less fortunate may have a decent Thanksgiving.
